*       What does a home stager do that I cannot do on my own?

Home sellers look at their homes differently than home buyers. As a home seller you have been living in your place for a while and have arranged the house to your needs and likes making your home full of memories.

When home buyers look at your home, they want to be able to see themselves living in that space.

As a home stager I am looking at your space with an objective eye and rearrange, organize, neutralize your house in a way that it feels inviting and welcoming to home buyers, so they can picture themselves living in your home. Therefore these first impressions need to be positive in every room to maximize the success.

If the impression you give throughout your home is a nice looking, well organized environment you will be perceived as having taken good care of your house.

*       Is it OK to just stage a couple of rooms?

While it is ok to stage just a couple of rooms, think about this: Keep in mind – home buyers WILL look at each room – and each room presents another opportunity to promote and market your home.

Like all first impressions, home buyers will look for re-enforcement of their first impression throughout the home. If you have staged only a couple of rooms they might get disappointed when they are moving from room to room.

*       Does staging mean re-designing my home?

When staging your house we want to keep your cost as low as possible, while still designing the most attractive and welcoming space accentuating nice features of your home. We will be working mostly with pieces in your home, but might suggest to remove, replace or update worn or outdated items.

*       Is staging only for houses or can this apply to apartments as well?

Absolutely! Apartments, condos – the same principles apply as to a house sale.

*       Do Stagers get a commission?

No, home stagers work based on estimated hours required to stage. Once you agree on an action plan and the staging is completed, your home is staged and ready to be listed. Because time is money, stagers will suggest that all the de-cluttering, packing, cleaning, and maintenance repair items be completed prior to hands-on staging.

*       How much does Home Staging cost?

Home Staging should not be seen as a cost, but as an investment into the selling process of your home. Home Staging will save you money in when selling your home. You will see the return on your investment through a higher price and through selling it faster. Check out this Home Staging Savings Calculator how much Home Staging could save you. The calculator has been developed my the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA) and is based on statistics from sold properties around the country.
